Räddaren i nöden
Graphic design for the novel »Räddaren i nöden« by American author J.D. Salinger, Bonnier Pocket. A new Swedish translation of the influential coming-of-age classic »The Catcher in the Rye«, first published in 1951. The novel follows Holden Caulfield, a seventeen-year-old expelled from prep school, through a lonely and life-changing day in New York City.
The colour palette and typography on the cover are inspired by the 1950s, with letterforms drawn from urban storefront signs. The brief specified that the design should not be illustrative in any way; instead, I worked with typography, colour, and texture to capture the atmosphere of the era.
